Elk Grove Baseball Goes For Number 7

Elk Grove High School  will try to do something this weekend it hasn’t done in 6 years----win a Sac Joaquin Section baseball championship……….The Thundering Herd won the SJS North title last week with a 4-2 win over the defending champion Franklin Wildcats and now Elk Grove will take on another  familiar for for the overall title-----St Mary’s of Stockton……..The Rams are the three time defending champions and it was their win over Elk Grove  in 2010 that started the run………The same two teams met in 2007 for the championship which was the last section title won by Elk Grove ……These two teams are among the most dominant in Division I-----Elk Grove has six titles while St Mary’s has four……….The Herd will take a record of 27-5 into the best of three series starting Friday night at Sacramento City College while the Rams come in with a record of 20-12---it's going to be a great series.

Laguna Creek High School takes home top awards at 2nd Annual SMUD Northern California Solar Regatta

 

Students in Laguna Creek High School’s Green Energy Technology Academy (GETA) took home four of the top awards at the 2nd Annual Northern California Solar Regatta, sponsored by SMUD (Sacramento Municipal Utilities Agency) on Friday, May 17 at Rancho Seco Lake.

Laguna Creek entered two teams in the competition this year – a senior team and a junior team.  The senior team won the Slalom and Sprint competitions, as well as the Best Boat Design Award.  By finishing first in the races and earning the Best Design Award, the senior team amassed the highest point total for the day and took home the Regatta Cup.  The award-winning senior team consisted of the following students: Santana Marin and Kerstin Wallinger.  The junior team included the following students: Kayleen Carter, Michael McCurdy and Jericho Avery.

Toby Johnson Middle, Franklin High school students win Perfect Attendance Laptop Giveaway

Toby Johnson Middle School student Kyle Villamarin and Franklin High School student Katherine Acasio were selected as the winners of the 2012/2013 Perfect Attendance Laptop Giveaway.  Villamarin and Acasio were surprised with their new laptops and printers during a prize patrol featuring a visit from EGUSD Superintendent Dr. Steven M. Ladd on Monday, May 20.
