Isleton Cajun & Blues Festival Moves To Delta Loop

Isleton Cajun & Blues Festival Moves To Delta Loop

The Isleton Cajun & Blues Festival has moved to a new location for the 2014 event. Still in Isleton, technically, but not in the city limits anymore. They have moved to the Delta Loop which is just a few minutes away. The event location is at the B&W Resort Marina and Boat storage. The Isleton Chamber of Commerce resurrected the festival in 2011 after the "Isleton Crawdad Festival" was disbanded along with the old Chamber that promoted it for years.

The business owners and residents of the delta loop have welcomed the festival with open arms and the "entire atmosphere and positive attitude is making a world of difference" said Jean Yakatobi, event foreperson.  With the marinas and docking availability the Loop is opening a whole new avenue for boaters and yachts to come from the bay area which will enhance the "family friendly"  direction the Chamber has achieved.

Raymond Case Elementary School Presents Disney's Aladdin Jr.

Raymond Case Elementary School Presents Disney's Aladdin Jr.

I sit in Raymond Case Elementary School multipurpose room ready to see Disney's Aladdin, Jr presented by the Raymond Case Drama Club. It's a full house. The lights dim to a beautiful made set of the marketplace Agrabah and palace where Princess Jasmine (played by Alex Taniguchi) is ready to battle with her dad the Sultan (played by Kevin Bali). The costumes, makeup and props are of a broadway show caliber. I think, "this is not an amateur musical" as the genie enters played by Annika Tamaki dressed in blue foundation asking if her pants make her look fat. The music and singing are excellent and the crowd cheers, laughs and comes to there feet as the final act ends.~~Janine King
