Donations to benefit Elk Grove nonprofit Chicks in Crisis
Elk Grove, CA – A citywide diaper drive, hosted by the group “Think, Shop, Live Elk Grove,” will be held Saturday to help local families and babies in need.
The Sept. 15 diaper drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in front of buybuy Baby at 7507 Laguna Blvd. in Elk Grove. The goal is to collect 12,000 diapers. The diapers will be donated to local nonprofit Chicks in Crisis.
“Providing a simple package of diapers can make a difference in a child’s life,” said Chicks in Crisis Executive Director Inez Whitlow. “The Elk Grove babies we serve need way more diapers than we can currently supply.”
This is the second in a series of “Think, Shop, GIVE Elk Grove” programs designed to encourage residents to support their local community by donating and spending locally. In April, the “Think, Shop, Live Elk Grove” volunteers collected more than 15,000 pounds of dog food to benefit the Elk Grove Food Bank.
Diapers of any brand or size will be accepted. Diapers will be available for purchase and donation. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Unloading services will be available. The event will also feature free fingerprinting and child identification by officials from the Elk Grove Police Department and face painting. In addition, the person or group donating the most diapers will receive two tickets for the Carrie Underwood concert on Oct. 13 at Power Balance Pavilion.
