SACRAMENTO, CA - This Friday, additional heat on distracted drivers begins with added enforcement from 37 local agencies.

It's part of the "Phone In One Hand Ticket In the Other" campaign in eight counties in Northern California funded by a federal grant.

In addition to added enforcement, there will also be signs  starting Dec. 3.

A new California Office of Traffic Safety study found California drivers rank cellphone and texting as the biggest safety problems on the road.

A ticket for texting or using an electronic device while driving is $159, according to the California Highway Patrol. That fine also holds if you are caught surfing the web while online.

This year's Small Business Saturday, where consumers are encouraged to support their local small businesses two days after Thanksgiving, will be the biggest one yet, says Small Business Administrator Karen Mills.

"We see tremendous momentum out there," says Mills, who bought blueberry jam last Small Business Saturday at a farmers market in Brunswick, Mass., and brought it back to her colleagues at work. "This Small Business Saturday has really gone viral."
