Elk Grove, Calif. – The Cosumnes Community Services District’s (CSD) Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to celebrate spring at the annual Spring EGGstravaganza on Saturday, March 30, 2013 in Elk Grove Park.

Get a dose of your “5 a day” by starting the day with a 5K run celebrating National Nutrition Month.  The CSD is pleased to partner with the Northern Area Dietetic Association to host The Veggie Chase 5K and Kids Fun Runs as part of this year’s spring festivities.  The 5K begins at 8:00 a.m. at Rotary Grove Picnic Area.  Quarter and half mile courses for kids begin at 9:15 a.m.  Visit www.veggiechase.org for more information and to register online for the Veggie Chase.

Elk Grove, CA – This March, the Elk Grove Police Department will host an innovative simulated distracted driving program aimed at educating teens about driving safety.

We are currently seeking 100 teenaged drivers to participate in the “3D: Distracted Driving Demonstration” program during the week of March 25-29, 2013.  Twenty students per day, during two different time periods, will participate in the distracted driving demonstrations on a closed driving course.  Teens will participate in several driving scenarios while performing other task such as, using a smart phone to text or talk, applying makeup, eating, reaching for items in the car, etc.
