2013 Weekly Challenge #45: Who Are You Thankful For?

Our month of Thanks Giving continues!

Last week, we told the world (ok, Facebook) what we were thankful for.  This week's challenge is about giving thanks to someone who may or may not still be in your life who helped you. You may have never told them, but now is your opportunity.

Our Main Mama Lorri Ann says:  "Mine was Miss Machado, my 8th grade teacher.  She believed in me, and encouraged me as my English teacher to write and express myself. Having a chaotic and painful home life, I looked forward to her words of encouragement to me. She never knew how big an influence she was on my life."

Stranger Danger Alert - EGUSD School District

ELK GROVE, CA - The Elk Grove Police Department is investigating another report of a stranger approaching and offering a ride to a youth in our community. The incident took place at 5 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, near the corner of Matina Drive and Gilliam Drive.

A Toby Johnson Middle School student was walking home from a relative's house when a man pulled up alongside him and asked if he wanted a ride. The boy went onto the bike trail and the man drove away. The student did the right thing and reported the incident when he got home. His father reported the incident to the Elk Grove Police Department.

The man described as an African-American adult in his 40's with close-shaved hair, a scar under his right eye, a thin moustache and patches of facial hair. He was driving a full-sized utility-style van, with two front doors and a 3rd sliding door. The van appeared to be model from between 2000 to 2013.

SAC H.O.P.E

(HEART OPEN, PEACE EVERYWHERE)

With HOPEs of uniting for a cause, we are coming together once again for our 2nd annual coat and sock drive. While all of us are striving each day to provide for and pave a better future for our children, we recognize that it is important that we lead by example. This is one of many example we have chosen to portray: giving back to the community. In unifying ourselves for this one cause we HOPE to inspire others to join us on this day and bring whatever they can so we can extend our helping hands to those who are in need.
