Congressional Dist. 7 candidates debate @ 3 p.m. on news10.net | News

SACRAMENTO, CA - Republican Dan Lungren and Democrat Dr. Ami Bera, candidates for the 7th Congressional District, debate today at News10 studios. The event will be carried on news10.net live at 3 p.m.

For those unable to watch the debate live, it will be shown the following morning, Wednesday, Sept. 26, on News10@9.

The redrawn 7th Congressional District includes most of Sacramento County from Citrus Heights south to Elk Grove.

The 7th District race is expected to be closely contested and will be watched on Capitol Hill. Republicans gained control of the House of Representatives in 2010. Lungren currently serves as Representative of the 3rd Congressional District encompassing the Sacramento area. Bera is a doctor in Elk Grove.

The candidates will take constituent and other questions posed by panelists News10 Political Editor John Myers, Bee Capitol Bureau Chief Dan Smith and Capital Public Radio Senior Reporter Marianne Russ.

Bera and Lungren will also be allowed to ask questions of each other.

The Sacramento Bee and Capital Public Radio are sponsoring the debate.
