Mike Jones, an Elk Grove Unified School District resource teacher, has been selected by U.S. Senator Diane Feinstein to receive the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute’s (CCAI) Angels in Adoption award.  He will be recognized on Wednesday, September 17 at CCAI in Washington, D.C.

An Elk Grove-based professional athlete has broken into the top 10 worldwide rankings recently.
According to the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation (IWWF), professional waterskier Brian Detrick is now ranked eighth in the sport's slalom classification. Detrick’s recent performances have moved him up ten places on the IWWF Elite Skier List since the onset of the 2014 season. Sac Fashion Week partnering with Miss Sacramento County

SAC FASHION WEEK PARTNERING WITH MISS SACRAMENTO COUNTY USA FOR A PAGEANT AND FASHION SHOWCASE ON NOVEMBER 10th, 2013.

Sacramento, CA – October 22nd, 2013 – Sac Fashion Week is partnering with the Miss Sacramento County Pageant to preview select showcasing designers for 2014.  The Miss Sacramento County Pageant (Ages 19-27) and Miss Sacramento County Teen Pageant (ages 13-18) will be held November 10th Hyatt Regency Hotel located at 1209 L Street Sacramento, CA.  Doors open at 3 p.m. to the prestigious Capital View Room on the 15th floor. 

Celebrity performances for the pageant include Bobby DeBarge Jr and Andre Mieux (A.M.X) and will be hosted by local radio personality Nina Hajian.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit Glass Slipper—designed to encourage “at-risk” girls ages 12-18 to follow their dreams—and the Mariposa House Project.
