Two teams from the Pocket Softball League are headed to their age level’s respective Western National Championships representing the Greater Sacramento Softball Association.

The 12U Pocket All Stars played extremely well at the ASA Association Championship tournament at Lembi Park in Folsom on June 23rd-24th.  The team took 3rd place and posted a 4-1 record in the “B” Division.  They logged wins against Elk Grove, Five Cities, Foothill and Roseville, eventually losing to another Elk Grove team in a semi-final game.  The team received a large team trophy and all of the girls received medals.  The 3rd place finish qualified the 12U team for the Western National Tournament in Salem, Oregon on July 30th – August 4th.

Under the tutelage of volunteer Coach Steve Cobb, the “Pocket Aces” fastpitch team ripped through the two-day competition in Lincoln, June 23rd-June 24

And the Winners are...

And the Winners are...

News10 My Neighborhood ran a week-long sweepstakes contest last week.

We asked our vusers to submit their definition of HOOPLA, and when they did, their names were automatically submitted into a random drawing.  Then, four lucky winners would receive four passes each to Golfland SunSplash.

This dictionary quiz sweepstakes contest was inspired as part of News10's Reading Connects campaign which is all about connecting with our community to help improve the literacy rate.

Well, we received over 90 responses, and some people were thoughtful enough to email us a sentence with the word HOOPA in it.  Here are some examples:

When two people interact, they are both changed. The change can be for the better, or not. Whether our influence is helpful or hurtful, positive or negative, depends on whether we give each other the gift of encouragement.
