Our In-House Wardrobe Stylist | Style
Samantha Macleod is currently the Associate Producer for News 10's, Sac & Co. morning show. And to my surprise, I recently learned that this wasn't the only place she has been displayed her leadership skills and talents. Samantha is a freelance wardrobe stylist for films and commercials all throughout the Sacramento area! As a fashion enthusiast, I was really excited to gain perspective on Samantha's expertise so we sat down for a chat and here's what I learned...
As a kid, Samantha described herself as "tomboy" but to her recollection, it wasn't long before she became inspired by the idea of dressing up and looking great in laid back and casual attire. She has many commercial and film shoots under her felt but her favorite job was working as a wardrobe stylist for her very first film, a horror film might I add. A little background information, a wardrobe stylist or costume designer is a person whose responsibility is to design costumes for the film. Samantha found great excitement in making these characters relatable and seeing how wardrobe greatly contributes to a film. She called it a "great learning experience."
When it comes to fashion in Sacramento, Samantha sees the great potential our city has. We live in the capital of California and have a huge commuter university that can make for many diverse and personal trends. What we are lacking are the resources and outlets for our aspiring fashion designers and stylists. Samantha would like to see more locally owned fabric and craft stores, something different from the rest. In February 2012, Samantha had the pleasure of attending Sacramento Fashion Week at the Elks Ballroom in Downtown. Here she was inspired by our local fashion designers and their edgy and diverse collections. For her, it was nice to see aspiring fashion gurus having their own voice and displaying it locally. She looks forward to attendind Sacramento Fashion Week 2013 and seeing even more new designers and an even higher attendance.
In speaking with Samantha, one thing was for certain, she loved what she did. Her dream job is to be a full time wardrobe stylist and seeing it all play out on film. Well Sam, News 10 is behind you one hundred percent, reminding you to follow your dreams and shoot for the stars!
