Sunny and HOT temps ahead for July 4th weekend

Sunny and HOT temps ahead for July 4th weekend

Get ready for a hot, three-day weekend! The heat will continue into Saturday as high pressure continues to strengthen, said News10 Meteorologist Darla Givens. Highs will be in the upper 90s with 100-degree weather in some areas. Givens said air quality will become unhealthy for sensitive groups and will remain in that range during this heatwave.

On Sunday, sunny and hot conditions will linger in the Valley with highs around 100. Monday, Fourth of July, will remain steamy with temperatures in the low 100s.

Have fun and keep cool!

Heat continues Monday, surprising cool down Tuesday

Get ready for a surprising summer cool down this week. The heat will remain Monday with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s. Southwest winds will be light to breezy up to 15 mph in the late afternoon with increasing clouds overnight.

The major weather change comes Tuesday, according to News10 meteorologist Mellisa Paul. Spring-like conditions will return as a strong cold system moves in. Highs will plummet to the low 70s and a chance of showers and thunderstorms will threaten the Valley. Heavy rain, small hail and gusty winds are possible at higher elevations, said Paul.

Wednesday will be no different with a chance of showers and thunderstorms forecasted with a mix of sun and clouds. Highs will rise slightly to the mid 70s for the Valleys.

Temperatures get back to "normal" on Thursday with clear skies and highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.

Cool temperatures on Friday will continue into the Memorial Day holiday weekend. News10 meteorologist Mellisa Paul said Saturday we'll see variable clouds through the valley and highs in the low 70s. Snow showers are expected up in Tahoe so if you're headed there for camping, be prepared.

Sunday and Monday (Memorial Day) will be mostly sunny in the valley but more clouds through the foothills and Sierra, said Paul. Highs will be in the mid 70s.

On Tuesday, you'll head back to work in partly to mostly sunny skies and highs unseasonably cool in the lower 70s.

Rain is here to stay at least until Wednesday afternoon, according to News10 meteorologist Mellisa Paul. Another weather system will move through the area Tuesday with continued rain showers. Highs will remain about 20 degrees below normal in the lowers 60s.

A second weather system moving in from the Pacific will give the Valley morning showers Wednesday but should clear up through the afternoon with highs near 70 degrees, Paul said.

Thursday and Friday we'll see mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s, near normal temperatures for this time of the year.
