A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 11 a.m. with visibility down to near 1/4 mile or less through the valley.
The fog may take all morning to burn off, especially in the Northern San Joaquin Valley. Hazy skies for the rest of the valley Wednesday afternoon. Highs will warm to near 60 in areas where the sun breaks through the clouds, but in San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties we'll have highs in the mid 50s.
Wood burning is prohibited in Stanislaus County Wednesday and Sacramento County has a Stage 1 No Burn Day with no burning unless exempt.
A big, sprawling area of high pressure located all across the West Coast is in control of our weather. This high pressure area is not like a normal high pressure system due to the clouds trapped beneath it...this is what we call a "dirty high".
A weak weather system approaches the coast on Saturday bringing more clouds and a slight chance of showers for the Sierra.
