Young Sacramento resident Courtney Sconce who fell victim to a child predator November 8th 2000 at the tender age of 12 was memorialized Tuesday evening November 8th in Rocklin with a sentimental balloon release.
Incorporated Into A Special Function
The gathering took place as a special part of the National Child Abuse Prevention Month committee meeting, a group of volunteers coordinating the April 1st 2012 50 state kick off of this important awareness project.
Getting To Know Their Girl
During the gathering Courtney’s parents Mark and Cindy took time to share about their daughter, her giving nature and how they aim to continue processing their grief and loss through positive action.

Kross Kountry-4-Kids Departure Kicks Things Off
National Child Abuse Prevention Month 2012 will begin with Kross Kountry-4-Kids rolling out bright and early the morning of Sunday April 1st. The two week motorcycle run departs Folsom Harley-Davidson and travels to Washington DC and back calling attention to this important cause.
Opening Cerimonies At Sunrise Event Center
Once the ride pulls out opening ceremonies get under way at about 10:30 A.M. at the Sunrise Event Center in Rancho Cordova including a Leadership Luncheon, Family Safety Fair and Heroes With Heart Gala.
Coming Together For A Wonderful Cause
The special events include local, state and federal officials working in social services, law enforeceemnt,justice and education all coming together to help prevent child abuse one family at a time.
Advocates From Coast To Coast
Last year more than a thousand individuals groups and businesses participated in the Sacramento based opening ceremonies helping to spread the message and effectively reach out to millions of Americans from coast to coast.
Sconces Will Take Cross Coutry Trip
The Sconces say they feel good about Courtney’s memory being a special part of the National Child Abuse Prevention Month program. Both of them will participate in the entire Kross Kountry-4-Kids journey meeting and greeting families from coast to coast.
Lunsford Leads The Way
Kross Kountry-4-Kids is being lead by national child advocate Mark Lunsford whom lost his own precious daughter Jessica to homicide and has since worked to pass legislation named after her in 47 states. The Sconces along with Lunsford aspire to have Jesse’s Law enacted in all 50 states by the end of April 2012.
Their Miracle Baby
Mark and Cind say they had always referred to Courtney as their little “Miracle Baby” because she was conceived following Cindi’s tubelagation.Something they were told only happened 1% of the time following such a surgery. They later learned that stranger abduction/homicides such as their daughters happened in only 1% of such cases.
Marc Klaas, president and founder of Klaas Kids Foundation will be a featured speaker during April 1st Sacramento National Child Abuse Prevention Month opening ceremonies.
