June 23 was no less than a celebration!

110 lovers of Cocker Spaniels were there, having rescued the ‘love of their life,’ or perhaps were now fostering a little one who is just waiting to meet a new adoptive family!

Elk Grove Regional Park was the perfect site for Cockers who were renewing friendships with pals from their past, or just becoming acquainted with a new friend, of which there were many just awaiting an introduction.
Colorful bandanas as well as caps were sported and believe me each dog knew he/she was dressed to the hilt for a day in the park.

Noses were posed to the sky as BBQ marinated chicken was fresh off the grill.  Oh, and the Cockers’ noses were, too!

Val Masters, Sacramento SPCA Certified Behavior Consultant (CDBC) brought silence throughout the audience, as well as from the dogs…Val graciously shared a wonderful talk as well as demonstrations to onlookers who were getting valuable training tips with a Q & A session.

The doggie audience was as attentive as were owners, supporters and visitors.  Thank you Val!

Mark and I will be attending the Sacramento Picnic with one dog, Chelsie, (formerly Cindy Lou). We’re looking forward to a great day with other Cockers and Cocker lovers.

I can’t wait to see all the lucky Cockers that were fortunate enough to make their way out of “my” shelter (Modesto, Stanislaus County) and be given a second chance–literally. Not to mention, all the fantastic volunteers who help make it possible!
